Students created Land Art inspired by the contemporary artist Andy Goldsworthy.
Students created watercolor paintings inspired by flowers and plants that hold a special or symbolic meaning to them.
Inspired by the American artist Bob Ross, students used acrylic paint to create landscape paintings using Ross’s wet-on-wet painting technique.
To practice working with acrylic paint, students created a gradient background by mixing paint directly on the paper. After the background dried, students added a silhouette using black paint.
For our first project of the 2020-2021 school year, students created perspective drawings. These valuable skills of creating depth and perspective will be used throughout the school year in our other projects.
With students working from home during the covid-19 pandemic - many without art supplies - art class has creatively shifted. For our first project, middle school students used themselves as models to embody famous works of art.

This year I gave awards and graduation cords to the seniors who consistently and successfully participated in art exhibitions and competitions throughout their high school careers. Most of these students are pursuing something art-related after High School and I could not be more proud! One of them is off to my alma mater, the University of Toledo next year! Look out for her!

The sixth grade students explored the Krasl Art Center! Students learned about body language in contemporary art and created drawings inspired by the current exhibition! See the art center: Krasl.org
